This program will enhance your degree across engineering, science, or management. In this interdisciplinary minor, you鈥檒l leverage curriculum and collaboration across several departments.

  • You鈥檒l study next-generation engine design, industrial process optimization, as well as energy production, storage, and usage.
  • The program requires completion of MECH 427: Energy and the Environment and 16 credit hours with flexible elective options. Choose three electives from areas like Sustainable Engineering, Vehicle Electrification, Energy Storage, Power Electronics, Bio and Renewable Energy.

In the New Energy Minor, you鈥檒l explore the science, technology, and innovation driving the global transition to clean energy. Through this program, you鈥檒l study solar, wind, tidal, and hydro energy, examining how natural forces are harnessed to generate sustainable power. 

You鈥檒l dive into electric energy and energy storage systems, gaining an understanding of the principles behind electricity generation, distribution, and advanced storage solutions. The program also covers hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, focusing on hydrogen鈥檚 role as a clean energy carrier and how fuel cells convert it into usable power. 

Finally, you鈥檒l explore bio and renewable energy solutions, analyzing innovative methods to produce energy from biological and renewable sources to reduce carbon emissions.
